QR Tags!

I have had several clients in the past few months request QR tags for their boarding pass or passport invitations. At first I was unsure of what they even were, I am a little behind on "new things" lately with Emma taking up most of my free time :)

So I have been doing a little research on them and I have decided they are AWESOME!! While I would not suggest putting them on formal invitations themselves, they certainly would be great for those having a destination wedding and have information cards or pages within a passport to send quests to their wedding website quickly.

All your guests have to do is scan the tag within your invitation and it is set up to send them directly to your website, just that easy! You can also have it send them a text if you want, or just plain text to them as well.

To try it out, I created one to just send people to my website!

And one to send people to my Design Blog (here!)

Mailing Invitations & Custom Stamps

For all of my brides getting ready to mail their invitations I have a few
MUST HAVE'S that you need to do before you drop them in the slot!

1. Take one invitation to the post office to have them weigh the invitation to ensure correct postage is put on them before you mail all of them. Make it it includes the rsvp envelope and the mailing envelope included to ensure the correct weight.

2. Have multiple scales read the invitation while at the post office. Yes this seems ridiculous to do but if you get the one bad clerk who doesn't take the time to weigh and calculate the postage due, you will have them all coming back to you :(

3. Make sure you look at usps.com and see if any stamp rate hikes are about to happen. The next stamp increase occurs on January 22nd to .45 for a first class envelope. Most invitations are more than that so please note it might be .65, .85, or more.

4. Order custom stamps ahead of time. They do take quite a bit of time to upload and print compared to going to the post office to pick up, so plan ahead. You can make them on zazzle.com and I can even create custom graphics on them to match your invitations. They are more expensive though than just purchasing them at the post office though.

I hope everyone has a great experience while mailing their invitations, and hopefully these few helpful tips will help you along the way to ensure they arrive safe and sound to your guests! Happy mailing!

Destination Wedding Planning Event

I will be co-hosting a destination wedding planning event at the

Victorian house

216 Stewart Street Reno, Nevada

on

Saturday, November 19th from 2pm-5pm

We will be going over all the details involved in planning a destination wedding in Lake Tahoe, or any International destination. All About Honeymoons and Destination Weddings will be there as well as multiple vendors from the Victorian House.

Learn about what the best time to getting married in Tahoe is. How about traveling with your wedding dress, or civil versus symbolic ceremony. All of these questions will be answered for you.

We will also have small bites to eat and drinks available. We hope to see you there!

Venue Experience

As part of the Victorian House in Reno we go and visit venues around the area to help our clients any way we can during the planning stages. Last month we toured Tahoe Tree Company in Tahoe City!

Description of the venue:

While a nursery may not be the first location to come to mind for a destination wedding, if you are making plans to tie the knot at Tahoe, it would definitely be worth your while to check out the Tahoe Tree Company, 401 West Lake Blvd in Tahoe City (just past the Y, at Highway 89 and Granlibakken Rd). And go now, before the snow flies and the gorgeous autumn leaves disappear! The setting is something of a cross between elegant villa grounds and a cozy, but superbly kept, backyard. The facilities, including the two-story, 6400 sq. ft. log building can host a ceremony (with dramatic stairway entrance for the bride) and/or a reception, and the main building opens out to patio areas of various sizes and colorful gardens, so could accommodate larger groups. Of course, summer events here would be spectacular, but the log main house, with its high ceilings and many windows, is available for winter weddings and events as well. And everything about it is oh so Tahoe--rustic but stylish. The Victorian House vendors love this location, and we think you'll find it truly magical!
